The Equine Art program allows our guests creative expression by creating a masterpeice with the horse as their canvas.

Below are photos created by the horses themselves as they are naturally inquisitive and creative while playing with art tools.

Meet The Artists

Bijou (Bijou Barrister) is a 12 year old Thoroughbred gelding whose favorite color is purple. His artistic talent was first recognized when he used grooming brushes and combs to mark the stall walls. Bijou created "Cactus Dance," "Sitting Flower," "Lagoon," and "Ribbons in the Wind."  Bijou Barrister was a well-known stakes placed Washington racehorse known for being extremely tough on the field and a very aggressive, hard worker. He mastered the art of intimidating his rivals, however here at SCR he is a gentle giant and huge baby.  He lives to entertain people and loves to make you laugh.

Banker (Banker’s Year) is a 16 year old Thoroughbred gelding who clearly prefers painting to racing, has created "Cactus Heart," "Sneeze," and "Tumbleweed." ,  successful on the track and schooled through 2nd level dressage and 3ft jumping by Danica Yates (a trainer who was the assistant to Debbie McDonald when she took the Olympic Gold). Third career – well, the work speaks for itself!  This horse is sooooo loaded with personality.  A favorite in the Equine Facilitated Therapy. He can make anyone forget their deepest fears and sadness.

Bruce (Disruption) is a 9 year old Thoroughbred gelding responsible for the brilliant piece, "Ohs." Bruce is clearly in touch with his inner colt, and has overcome tragedy by expressing his feelings by art. He loves to entertain people and make them laugh. He also thinks it is hilarious to paint on people, when they are not looking.
